Alright Yall, have I got a recipe for you! Sunday’s are always my big cooking days because, well, it is Sunday. So yesterday evening I decided that I wanted to make something that would complement a pound of smoked turkey that my Daddy gave us. And boy did it turn out well!
The only thing that I will do next time is make my sauce a bit thicker. But overall not to shabby at all!
So here it is ladies and gents:
- 1 lb Smoked turkey
- 1/2 package of whole grain spaghetti
- 3/4 cup plain Greek yogurt
- 1 cup organic fat-free milk
- 1-2 TBSP garlic salt (I say 1-2 based on how garlic-y you would like your sauce)
- 1/2 cup Parmesan cheese
- 3/4 cup green peas
- 1 cup chopped mushroom
It a pot you want to begin boiling your water. Take spaghetti and break in half, place in boiling water until soft. Drain. Set aside.
In a separate pan you want to add yogurt, milk, and cheese. Stir over medium-low heat until the cheese and yogurt are melted. Add mushrooms and garlic salt. Cook over medium-low heat, stir occasionally, for about 15-20 minutes. (make sure the cheese does not get stuck to the bottom of the pan, if it starts to do this, decrease heat)
Lastly you want to add the smoked turkey to the sauce mixture, tear into chunks, and peas. Cook on medium-low heat until turkey is warm. About 10-15 minutes.
Pour sauce into drained spaghetti and stir well. Serve.
I paired this with whole grain garlic bread. It was wonderful. The smoked turkey really helped add some extra robust flavor. The peas really add texture and color. What a great and easy dinner!
