So this will be my second baby product review/suggestion. Again, I am NOT getting paid to recommend these products, I just use them myself and really like them.
Okay so lets talk breastfeeding…
It is an awesome, overwhelming, and sometimes painful process that us mommies take on to provide nourishment to our babies. There are TONS and I mean TONS of articles and blog posts about how to breastfeed properly and how to get a perfect latch and optional holds and what you should or should not put on those precious nipples to keep the milk flowing for baby… Overwhelming yes.
It is hard sometimes to also decipher a good recommendation from one that has the motive to get you to buy a product rather than actual enjoy using them. I am very much Type-A, I like things to do what they say and to do it well. So pretty much, high quality-budget friendly-no nonsense, sort of product. I want it to make my hectic day easier. Heck, I want the products I recommend to make YOUR day easier because lets face it ladies, being a Mommy is hard work. We deserve great things that benefit us and our children.
Below are 4 suggestions about different breast pumping products to make the journey a little easier for you. Please ask any questions in the comments below!
Spectra Breast Pump
I really really really LOVE this pump! My cousin recommended it to me because it is efficient and quiet. I was really nervous about coming back to work and pumping in my office. I definitely didn’t want my co-workers to hear me pump. I wanted to feel comfortable, and pump the milk my baby needs daily. Boy has this pump worked great. It is very user friendly, and allows you to use two pumps at once. It has a let down button, and then a stronger pump or vacuum. It works perfectly. I got this one through my insurance (look into it ladies, a total life saver). One not so great thing about it is that parts can be hard to come by, BUT I have found that I can use Avent bottles with the Spectra shields, and there is an adapter to fit Medela shields to the Spectra pump. So not really so bad. If you do not have insurance that will afford you a pump, you can purchase it on Amazon, just click here.
2. Simple Wishes Hands Free Pumping Bra
I was very hesitant at first to purchase a legit pumping bra. One because they are sort of expensive, and two there are so many options. I came across this one on Amazon and saw that it had a 4.5/5 star review rating with over 1700 reviews. I tried the DIY pumping bra option that I saw on Pinterest (you buy a cheap cotton front clasp sports bra, cut slits in the front to place the shields in, and good to go), and it worked great for about a week. I pump twice a day at work, and the make shift bra just didn’t hold up for me. So I made an investment and I LOVE it. I got the bra in soft pink. It is super soft, and holds the shields in place. I accidentally hit one on the edge of my desk while pumping, and it didn’t budge!!! The bra is machine washable and adjustable. You can find one here.
3. Lansinoh Breastmilk Storage Bags
These little bags are AWESOME! They hold up to 6 oz of breastmilk, and seal with two zippers to prevent spills and freezer burn. Also, if you do not have any clean bottles to pump into, you can tape the bag to your shield (see here). They are super easy to use, and cost effective. You can find them here.
4. Milkmakers Lactation Cookie
Okay no joke, these are a little expensive but they are pretty darn good. They are made with organic oats and flour, and contain lots of little goodies traditionally used to increase breast milk supply. But the real thing that is important to me is that I didn’t have to make them, they are decent sized, and they are freaking good. Give them a try if you want. There are also recipes on Pinterest if you are more of a baker. Find the cookies here.
As I have said before, I am not getting paid to recommend these products. I just want to spread the word and hopefully make your life a little easier.
Give them a try and let me know what you think. If you have any breast pumping suggestions for me, please comment below! Lord knows us Mommies have to work and stick together!
Until next time,
